Thanks for your response Daniel.
I own a few acres of the 305 acres my family owns in general. Plus we have 50 acres in Carter County…Sec 9 4S 2E…
So, Section 4 is due north of ours in Section 9…
Again THANKS Daniel!! That is exciting… my father was born and raised in Ardmore and our family has owned that property for over 100 years. My father and I are flying out in 2 months to see the progress firsthand.
Paul,
My grandfather was the station master for the Santa Fe Railroad for a long time; he worked for them for 47 years. He purchased his land around 1913 just south of the Ardmore Airport in Section 25 and 30.
Is there activity on your property, too?
Paul,
Almost all of the wells in our area are horizontal wells. The major formation in the area is the Woodford Shale. In my area it is about 350’ thick. As to production, they don’t run these wells at full production but choke them back. As natural gas prices stay low and supply far outstrips demand, the price will not move up very much or very fast. We have had problems with our one well and now in December it was shut down for December. To say the least, it will go down some and then level off after a year or two.
Thanks Daniel for the XTO link… looks like I have to have check/payment info to register…
As my Chickasha property is with Continental Resources, Inc.
One last question… looking at this well permit… what would be the likelihood of my father and I seeing some drilling activity when we visit in May-June?

And McClintock’s in Shell Beach the BEST rib-eye!
Thank you Clint for the link!
Paul,
As you know, there is no good news, without some bad news.
The bad news is that the operators do not have to finish a well, they can stop at any time, including after the well has been producing.
If you have a lease, there is probably a ‘shut-in’ clause that says something like, “we will pay you $1.00 per net mineral acre per year.” Which means they can shut down the well and not produce anything and pay $1.00 per acre to keep the lease. Everything is done to keep the lease.
Did you say where in Stephens County your mineral interests are? I remember you had a share of 350 acres.
I’ve been to McClintock’s a couple of times and the last time I was in Pismo Beach, I believe I had some chowder at the Splash. I also like the Customs House over in Avila Beach.

THIS RIG IS ON SEC 4 T4S R2E
Paul,
This is your well. The rig is Fedlerhoff Bros #30. I think you are going to miss it on your trip.
