Wife died in 2023 and receives cks from oil company, they tell me it is in the elk city unit1, but they cannot give me legal discerption soi can get deed swop over to her children , have contacted Beckham county clear office and they cant pinpoint deed with out legal discerption beside elk city unit 1- tried contacting a couple lawyers in okla with no response . any help or direction would be appreciated
The reason the courthouse cannot tell you is that there are many wells that start with “Elk City” and they cannot help with legal work on deeds, just can help with filing them at the county courthouse. Who is the operator on the checks? Have you contacted them? They will have the location. Have you tried looking up her name on www.okcountyrecords.com?
You should also include your wife’s maiden name and/or parents’ names during your search. Also, the checks should have a county description. These will often also provide the Section Township Range.

You may be able to pull a legal description off the mineral tax rolls using her name on the Beckham County Assessor Office website.
You can also call the County Appraisal District if you have trouble navigating the site. Here is phone number (580) 928-3329
Oklahoma doesn’t tax minerals and doesn’t have a mineral tax roll.
Not quite, while the counties dont assess an ad valorem tax like Texas, the state does collect a severence tax on gross production. The county assessor will maintain ownership records, legal descriptions, and transactions. Apologies if I was less than clear.

Have searched the county records. I would try wifes name, oil company name. https://okcountyrecords.com/search/beckham
If you can share the operator name, we may be able to narrow down which Elk City well you are searching for.
How do I find the original deed prior to an adjudged decree for mineral rights of my deceased dad in Oklahoma Logan County.
