Hi. I have been approached to consider investing in drilling and production with Bison in these sections. However, it looks like there aren’t a lot of wells in the area and I’m wondering if that’s a red flag in terms of likelihood of good production volumes. Any chance someone on this forum has some intel or can recommend how I can get independent validation of the claims being made?
Also, I don’t know too much about oil and gas production, but with horizontal wells I understand oil and gas are actually being drawn along the full length of the horizontal pipes - in this case, 2 mile and 3 mile horizontal wells. Does this suggest production should be significantly better than a vertical well?
Thank you for your time and input.
You are asking a bit too early. Mavericks 8-61 31-6-1 was spud on Sept 8, #2 & #3 on Sept 9, #4 not yet, #5 on Sept 7. They have five wells to drill and it takes months for each one. I do not see a rig on site at the moment, so the larger rig may not be there yet.
You are correct that the horizontal wells has many thousands more feet of perforations so are generally much better than a vertical in the same horizon.
Investing in drilling is not for the novice. You would need deep pockets for many years of expenses, drilling liability insurance (often through the operator), a good accountant, good attorney, etc. There are advantages, but talk to your professionals before investing.
Looks like Bison spud the Jaws 8-61 31-13-6 on Sept 8. No rig on site at the moment.
