Buying mineral rights how to

I’m looking to buy some mineral rights but all the sites keep saying I can’t buy/bid because im not a accredited invester… How am I supposed to get started and where should I look for buying?

There have been several topics regarding that question over the years. You can use the magnifying glass to search for forum answers.

In general (just my opinion), it is rather difficult for the lay person to get into mineral buying as they do not have the geologic and engineering background to know where the good tracts are, plus not having the economic ability to compete with the PE backed major buyers who are buying ahead of the bit and have millions of dollars to spend. Others can chime in…

stop trying to do it the hard way. everyone can easily invest in minerals. You open a brokerage account, and invest in FANG, permian basin royalty trust, Cross timbers royalty trust, etc.

@jordanmp627, good point. Royalty trusts are an opportunity and a cautionary tale at the same time. In spite of having generous amounts of acreage in producing basins and shareholder capital, they often struggle to make monthly distributions. CRT, PVL, SJT all have missed during the last year.

Two cautions come to mind. 1. Look before you leap with any investment. 2. Just because you have acreage doesn’t mean money will follow… sometimes it takes many, many years. Certainly agree that it is better to invest in more conventional ways than trying to circumvent the accredited investor rules.
