We finally succeeded in transferring our father’s ownership interest in this well to us. This is an old well but BP purchased it from Chesapeake several years ago. Is there any new activity there or has it been exhausted? We are wondering if we can expect to receive any escrowed royalties from the last several years.
Bonnell is still in production. You need to send a certified return receipt letter to BP and to Continental requesting back royalties. They may require your ownership copies of records.
Thank you Ms. Barnes. At BP’s request we submitted our W-9s to them when they sent us a letter transferring ownership to us. Do you think they will automatically send back royalties to us or should we request them by certified letter? You also said Continental - did you mean Chesapeake?
Oops meant Chesapeake. Request from BP first as usually when a well is bought, the pending payments go with it. Not always, so you may need to try Chesapeake as well.
