Although Expand hasn’t reported production in the RRC production reporting system, they have reported production for this well in the Texas Comptroller’s CONG system.
March 2026: 648,279 MCF (don’t know how many days of production)
April 2026: 585,335 MCF
So it looks like the well is off to a very good start. The initial monthly production is not as much as some of the Comstock wells, but we don’t know what choke setting Expand is using.

Expand filed a completion report on the Yancey well today. Key numbers:
27,503 MCF in the 24-hour test
2.75 inch orifice
Shut in pressure 12,086
8,128 foot producing interval
Frac numbers comparable to Comstock:
Water: 4,962 gallons per foot of lateral
Sand: 4,852 pounds
First three months production:
March: 648,279 MCF
April: 585,335
May: 623,887

The production to date is not that impressive, but we don’t know what Expand is doing with their first well. They could be testing choke settings or other issues. Pipeline capacity also could be an issue.

Thank you again for always sharing your expertise in this area. We don’t typically see a lot of data coming out of Houston and Anderson counties, so your insights are incredibly helpful.
I was hoping to get your thoughts on the Hart Energy article which states Expand will be filing with the RRC for a new field play. Does that strategy seem questionable to you, given that their science well isn’t hitting the current production volumes we see out little further west?
I’d be very curious to hear your professional opinion on what they might be aiming for with this filing.
Here’s a snippet from the article:
New field designation The Expand pad in Houston County is 14.6 miles northeast of Crockett.
Bossier, which overlies the Haynesville, was found at 16,000 ft. The kickoff point for the lateral was at 16,649 ft. The lateral is at 17,345 ft.
Expand plans to file a request with the Railroad Commission of Texas (RRC) for naming a new field based on the well, which is where deep laterals haven’t been made in any formations before.
Bobby Yancey #2 is flanked on the west by shallow, vertical Navarro Crossing NE Sub-Clarksville Field wells producing from about 6,000 ft overlying Woodbine. The field was named in the 1960s.
I have to say up front that I am not a professional 
. Oil and gas research became my hobby after we had a large Goodland Lime leasing boom here in Anderson County back in 2013-2015.
I think it’s a really good sign that Expand is filing for a new field name, as it suggests that they have a lot of confidence in what they’ve learned via their test well and the Yancey 2H. Regarding the Yancey production to date, we don’t know if the well is choked back or perhaps the pipeline capacity in that area is a constraint currently.
