We are signed with Cimarex and have been receiving very large offers to buy. We have 10 acres. We signed three years ago and just received the first royalties in February for about $5,000. However, we just got another check totaling a measly $500.00 and I was told that was for two months. We are in our early 70s now but wondering if we should sell. The last offer was $17,500 an acre. I don’t understand why they are willing to pay so much for what seems to be so little. Am I missing something here? They say that the area we are in has a lot of oil. I assume that is why the offers have gone from about $200.00 four years ago up to $17,500. What is going on there and can I assume that we might be getting some substantial royalties?
