Blackburn BW WS Fisher A-285

Greetings to all. Admittedly, this is all new to me, so please be so kind to extend grace. Last year I inherited the minerals for 50 gross acres from my great grandmother. No one in the family had any idea she had this property much less the minerals. I do have a lease with Surprise Valley. It seems there is a lot of activity in this area. I’ve gotten pretty comfortable with the RRC website and I am so grateful for this site also. Unless I am mistaken, this is the lease info listed on the RRC website, API 28932202 Blackburn BW. When I look on here I see a bunch talk about well names. So this confuses me a little bit. Can anyone tell me if the well for this survey is in production? Or what the status is? I appreciate the info. Thank you so much!

Well was spud on 3/12/2025. No completion reported yet.

Any information on Comstock’s Lochspiech BJ 1H, which is nearby to the Blackburn BW 1H?

my property is pooled in this well. I drove by last weekend and talked to a guy on the survey crew for the pipeline. I asked when he thought the line would be ready; 6 months, a year… He said probably less than that. He also said that this pipeline that is going in now is just the first of three phases. I would love to have some kind of estimate of how long before the division order goes out.

Hi M_Barnes, if Comstock drills a horizontal gas well in abstract 437 in Leon County ,Tx., is it probable for them to come back ( in a future date ) and drill a vertical well for oil? One more question, I understand that a vertical oil well can produce for over 10 years. What is likely for a horizontal well to produce over time, how long does it last? Thanks, Richard

Horizontal wells can be so much more productive. For example, a vertical well for oil might perforate only 20 feet of section, but a horizontal well turns and stays within a formation and can perforate 1000s of feet of section. (Think bendy straw) Horizontal wells can last decades. Companies and mineral owners would prefer a well with a longer life and more royalties.

Thank you so much M_Barnes! Richard

Can horizontal gas wells produce for decades and can a horizontal gas well also produce oil at the same time? Thanks!

“Designated Oil wells” can have associated gas coming up the borehole at the same time. “Designated Gas wells” can have very light oil called condensate coming up the borehole at the same. The Designation is determined by the gas oil ratio in the well. Dry Gas wells will be gas only.

Drilling on the Lotspeich well began on August 24.

Thanks Alan. I hope it’s a really good well!

Thank you Alan. This well is adjacent to my property. I have been driving by weekly on CR 325 to follow the progress. This week is the first time I saw the top of the well from the road, with lights on. I could hear machinery noises. I was wondering why I hadn’t seen it before, when I had seen it from CR 317 previously.

M_ Barnes stated that this well was Supd on 3-12-2025

I am querious, how do you know that? Does that mean they began setting up the platform or everything is set up and the actual drilling began. I do not know too much about the oil drilling business. Thanks Alan.

Yes, the Blackburn well was spudded on 3/12/2025.

Actual drilling on the Lotspeich well began on 8/24/2025.
