We own land toward the eastern end of the Bakken formation in ND. We own surface and mineral rights on one quarter. My father purchased another quarter many decades ago from a bank which retained the mineral rights.Is there a mechanism to reclaim the mineral rights? We are not even sure the bank is still in existence. What happens to such property when banks change ownership, close, etc? The bank was in a different state.
