Bakken Growth Near Ride the Lightning & My McKenzie County Acreage?

Hello friends,

Looking for insight from anyone familiar with current Bakken development activity, especially around the “Ride the Lightning” area and west/southwest of it near my acreage in McKenzie County, ND.

My minerals are located in:

  • T149N-R103W Section 33

  • T148N-R104W Sections 1 & 2

I’ve been researching nearby permits, rigs, spacing units, and development trends on the ND Oil & Gas GIS map. I’m trying to understand:

  • Which operators are most active nearby

  • Whether expansion/drilling is moving west or southwest

  • How close current development is to these sections

  • Whether people are seeing increased leasing, permitting, or infrastructure growth in this area

I recently received lease offers covering approximately 158.38 net mineral acres.

Would appreciate any local knowledge, operator insight, or thoughts on which nearby areas may develop first. Thanks in advance.

Phoenix is drilling the three Lightning permits.

Extensive leasing in the last 24 months in both of those townships indicates an interest in moving westward.

Purified and Kraken are leasing in sec 33. They are leasing in nearby sections as well includng sec 1 & 2 to the south.

Time will tell.
