I am searching for a deed from the 1920’s in Austin County, but their County Clerk website isn’t showing any mineral deeds. Can anyone point me in the right direction to request these records?
Online sites like TexasFile and CourthouseDirect have county deed records but for Austin County they only go back to the 1990’s. Finding the deed you are after may require a trip to Bellville but I would first call the County Clerk’s office and see how far back their records go. Their old courthouse from 1888 burned down in 1960 and a lot of their records were lost.
If the county clerk’s office says they exist but can’t help you get a copy another alternative would be contacting a local title company or landman working in that area and see what they would charge to obtain what you need.
