Arkansas Mineral Interest Search

I am attempting to locate a mineral interest in the state of Arkansas belonging to a relative that cannot recall the legal description or county where they're located. All she knows is that her late husband spoke of this interest once. Are there any websites that I can use to search Arkansas legal descriptions by using only a name? Any help will be appreciated.

Don:

I would contact the Arkansas Oil & Gas Commission via email or by phone. If the mineral acerage area is located in the Norhern Part of the State contact the Ft. Smith office at 479-646-6611 or in the South part contact the El Dorado office at 870-862-4965. Someone at one of these locations may be able to provide assistence in order to locate any mineral interests but they would be recorded at the County Clerks office in the county where the minerals are located. Any further information you could find (field/survey, etc.) will improve your chances.

Thank you Charles, this will be a great starting place.

I know of no such on line service by the state. This would have to go back to a genealogist. Locate that person's county and you likely will be in the area. First, I'd check census records (1940 is available). Once you've located the name, and a county, it's going to have to be a real tough search.

If out of the 20s - 30s it is more likely to have been in S. Arkansas and if in the 50s - 80s it might be N. Arkansas. You have a tough row to hoe.
