Does anyone know if Arkansas had a statewide Mineral Deed indexing system of some kind 100 years ago? Or maybe an old AOGC indexing system? And is that old system searchable?
I was recently doing onsite research in Van Buren County, and on several of the Mineral Deeds from 1929 and 1930, there was a reference number written on top of the Mineral Deed. This was not the Book and Page. An example of one reference number was “989-A-Ark-R-13.” All of the numbering went Number - Ark-R-Number, making me think that “Ark-R” was a statewide system of some kind. I asked the folks at the Circuit Clerks office, and they did not know.
