I recently discovered I have inherited a quarter-acre’s worth of mineral rights in Jefferson Co OH. I know that taxes must be paid on income earned from gas and oil mineral rights. What I cannot locate reliably (not even by calling the Jefferson Co Assessor’s Office) is whether or not I will be charged a “property” tax in the future (or back taxes for that matter) on the rights. Anybody on the forum own mineral rights in Jefferson Co? Are you receiving a tax bill on the rights? If so, how did the county assess a value? What rate is the tax?
