I have 50 net mineral acres on 35 T154 R103w just wondering if I’m getting screwed over because I have noticed a few more wells being put up. Anyone know who BUd Bringham is he wanted to buy my mineral rights off me and I just wondering was 500,000 a fair price.
Is he out of Oklahoma and with Brigham oil & gas?
Yeah I think so
I think they may be based in Austin.
Publicly traded company with ticker symbol: BEXP
However, on October 17, 2011 they announced a merger with STATOIL ASA, Norway's biggest oil company for 4.4 Billion in cash.
Maybe Bud made the offer to buy your minerals individually.
Sheldon:
The only Bud Brigham that I am familiar with was the previous owner of Brigham Exploration, which was one of the premier operators early on in the Bakken. He sold to StatOil, a Norway based oil company, and they continue to drill in the Basin. In response to your question about the $500,000 being a fair price for your mineral acreage, I would contact someone who is familiar with valuation of minerals as a lot of factors comprise the evaluation process. Might I suggest that you contact Gary Hutchinson, another member on this forum, as he is very knowledgeable in the Williston Basin area. I am sure he would be willing to discuss the evaluation process and give you some valuable information. Last I knew, Bud Brigham resides in Austin, Texas. Don't know where his office is located.
How would I get ahold of gary hutchinson

I'm sure he can advise you wisely on how to proceed with your matter.
It sounds like you answered your own question. You only own 50 net and someone is willing to pay you a half of a million dollars. That's $10,000 an acre. Most offers to buy are less than that, few are higher than that. The choice is yours. You can hire a mineral manager. They usually don't work for free. They will probably come up with some complex formula and stuff like that. However, there will always be variables that they can't calculate for certain such as the life of the well, the price of oil, etc.
You can become a half a gross millionaire. Invest it wisely, and watch it grow.
