Curious if anyone’s been tracking any under-the-radar wells or areas that aren’t getting much attention yet but might be worth a closer look. This site always seems to catch the scent early, and I figured I’d ask before the usual chatter kicks off.
For example, Formentera quietly drilled one of the only modern successful Pearsall wells using today’s frac design. Now I’m seeing some lease offer letters start to float around from land broker groups, which definitely caught my eye.
Anyone else watching something similar? Would love to hear about any sleeper wells, fringe targets, or quiet leasing activity worth digging into.
Back in 2017-2018, Oxy leased a number of sections in Gaines county, Texas: Oxy leasing in Gaines county - #8 by AJ11
As best I can tell, it did not drill any wells. Was it a Clearfork exploration prospect and or C02 related? Are Sabinal’s recently permitted hz wells targeting Clearfork?
What is Continental Resources doing NE of Kermit in Winkler county, Texas? Barnett? Woodford?
If someone did have a secret little area that might pop off, they dang sure arent sharing it over an online message board! With everything online now, theres no such as under the radar anymore as anyone that works in the industry can see whos filing new leases or permits to drill in 30 minutes or less with a few clicks of the button
We can see leases filed months after the fact. I assume the OP is wanting to exploit such windows and lease/acquire opportunistically. Once I had just leased to company x and company y was hot to acquire leases in the area. I assume company y would not have called me if it had seen company x had leased the land.
