I recently received a notice of a proposed annexation into city limits of rural city on an approximate 90 acre surace tract and approximately 60 acres of underlying minerals, southern Hughes Co., Ok. First meeting to discuss is 3/7/2011. We are currently not using surface for anything. But adjacent tracts have cattle and farm equipment. Word is majority of landowners are against annexation. As a mineral owner I can see drilling restrictions being imposed on tracts within city limits. Pros and cons? Last check city code or ordinances were at printer and not available. What is usual process of fighting annexation? What arguments should be used?
