Am I due royalties

Hello everyone. My grandmother passed on some mineral rights in Carter County 27-T01S-R03W. I did find the map showing the producing wells in that section (Courbet, JF Ashton). What I am confused about is if mineral owners in that section are getting/are due royalties from these wells, or do the wells only pay royalties for the neighboring sections that are drilled into? Any info you guys can give is greatly appreciated. I am definitely learning!

If you just inherited, you need to contact Continental Resources and get into pay status on the Courbet and Augustus wells. They are horizontal wells and all of the 640 acres are included in the wells. There are a few other vertical wells, but they are spaced differently, so dependent on the description of your acreage and if it is in their spacing unit.

Be ready for a bit of a wait on their response-takes a while. Contact their revenue department and have death certificates, probate documents, your driver’s license and ask what else they need.

Thanks for the reply! I contacted them once already and they did respond. They claim that they do not show my grandma’s mineral ownership at all. I sent them the deed where she took ownership of them but they still say they don’t show her (or me as her heir) as an owner. Not sure where to go from here.

You will probably have to go farther back that your grandmother in the chain of title. In some cases, even though there is a deed, the person who deeded it may not have actually owned it. The Division Order title opinion for the wells goes all the way back to statehood and the original patents. You may need to hire a landman to find out what happened.
