After 20 years of played out Oil royalties, now a new? notice in Waller county

Signed a new division order in Waller County with TrailBlazer after no royalty in 20 yrs. Then got a check with Jan and Feb 2026 dates. No further payments received and operator keeps saying to wait. What is happening? Did this well become “shut in” and how to find out? Thanks

Well is Santa Mercedes2. That RRC site is difficult to use. Do operators tell you to wait for months? thanks

Last production was in 2008. Looks like a mechanical failure in Nov 2008. The payments might have been held in suspense and just now released. Look on the statement and see the sales date in the line items (not the check date). It is possible that the new operator did a workover and has it back in production. Yes, it can take months. If you don’t get anything by October, call them again and ask what is the plan for the well.

The check date may be for Jan and Feb, but the sales date is usually a month or two before that. The check stub statement usually has a property ID code, then under it is a sales date for oil and a sales date for gas, gross amounts and your net amount. Trying to figure out if the well is active again or they are just doing cleanup.

Last sales reported to TX Comptroller were January and March 2009, 154 bbl each of those months. No sales since that time and well is shut-in per RRC records.

This stub does not have much. Guess to wait for the Waller county property tax bill for 2025. Operator does not return phone calls. Will do certified letter. Thanks

FYI: Over 20yrs ago my rancher husband found an oil royalty check in his mail. First ever. Said it was from his grandfather. Then every month for over 6mons got a check. We spent all of it and then it started to go down, and down. That is why hearing in June from an operator on the same well was shocking. Getting that June check was more shocking. Let’s hope it keeps going.

Everything I see also says it is shut in, so a bit confusing for sure.

Just got Trailblazer mail with March, april, may, june 2026 amounts. Looks like they pay in quarters.
