The National Association of Royalty Owners (NARO) has an Eastern Chapter for royalty owners in OHIO. Some of the directors are attorneys and may be helpful. www.naro-us.org.
I don’t know but I have a question. I inherited mineral rights beneath a section of land in wyoming. My grandfather was always suspicious of of oil companies possibly tapping into oil beneath his land via horizontal drilling methods. Is that a real concern? Is there any type of government mapping system that would show drill logs and active well locations. His place was out in the Buffalo area, sort of, I remember driving for hours from town to ranch site. I look it up on google maps every 10 years or so., If you know and can provide an answer I would be thankfull.

The horizontal wells only drain about a 300’ diameter. Yes, there are GIS maps showing where wells are. If you give the Section, Township and Range, we can get you located and point you in the right direction to see what is nearby. If your family owns the mineral rights, then most of us are thrilled to have horizontal drilling due to the royalties.
