Activity in Canadian County, OK

Hi! I'm Barb. I am so glad I found this web site!! I live in Arizona and my mineral rights are in Oklahoma. Canadian County to be specific. They are in two different Sections: Section 32-11N-R8W and Section 30-11N-R8W. I would like to find out more about what is going on there. My cousin told me that they (the company?) is putting down 9 stake on a linear mile. What does this mean? I have so much to learn. Any help would be so appreciatee. I tried to go to occweb.com but it seems that my computer is not compatible. These areas are currently leased. Thanks again

Barbara:

I am not familiar with this area in Oklahoma but I will suggest that you also post under the Canadian County site. Click on "Groups" above; find Oklahoma and click on "County"; find Oklahoma on the list and click on "Canadian County". There are about 27 members on this site and these individuals have an interest in Canadian County.

Thank you. Good idea. Any idea is so much better than where I began. Barb

Barb,

There is a lot of drilling activity in the area of your sections. A section is 1mile X 1 mile, so your cousin is probably talking about companies who are planning to drill up to 9 wells per section. Since these are horizontal wells the spacing would be expressed in linear terms. If the current level of activity continues I would say there is a very good chance one or both of your sections will be drilled before your leases expire.

The OCC website can be a real challenge but it can be conquered if you have the time and patience. It's probably not your computer but the quirkiness of the applications that run the website. Once you learn how to navigate it you will find a lot of useful information.

Thank you Michael. I am getting more educated all the time. Barb
