On our lease agreement there are 2 block numbers and farm tract numbers. My question is
this, are farm tracts and abstract numbers the same thing?
Thanks
Harley

Dear Mr. Butler,
I have worked all over Texas and am not familiar with Farm Tracts. Must be common in one of the many counties I have not worked in. But this I know, it is not an abstract number. I bet it is analogous to a survey number. There can be many identical survey numbers in a county (with a different survey name), but each abstract number is unique to that county, except at one time Lavaca, I think. Too long ago to remember. But it was corrected by the GLO anyway.
Harley,
What state is this?
Texas Live Oak county. As Buddy Cotton said farm tracts might be survey #
I don't know. That sounds like an educated guess.
I bet the answer would be found in the deed or deeds of record, or the smartest thing to do would be to ask the landman who prepared your lease agreement, why he described it the way he did, or what are farm tracts?
I am also sure that they are not the same as an abstract number, having also worked all over Texas.
our family only owns a 1/4 of the minerals rights (mineral rights only) that was handed down over the yrs. We actually have no idea where it is located in live oak. I looked up the block #'s on the rrc site (not the easiest in the world) which showed it west of three rivers if the block #,s are right. A land man group out of Houston lease for three years with a two year option, in which they in return sold to Petrohawk for the remainder 2 year lease with 1 yr. remaining on the lease. so does anyone know a Petrohawk land man in the Corpus area I can contact. I had emailed Petrohawk for a legal description but had now luck.
I am leased to Petrohawk/Geosouthern in DeWitt/Karnes county. One of their land men contacted me about something (I can't remember what) 1-2 years ago and I saved his number in my phone. Saved as land man but no name. 361-275-4268. If he is still with them maybe he can help you or direct you in the right direction. BHP also has an office in Cuero on the main drag as you go through town. PS: Got my first royalty check in May after 5 1/2 years, finally. Craig

Farm Tracts in Live Oak County refer to an old 1920’s subdivision that was sold to investors. See the links for the Simmons Ranch development http://www.tshaonline.org/handbook/online/articles/fsiyz

The tracts were platted as Farm Tracts. There are also Farm Tracts in Ward County around Barstow.

It varied, but I think they show up on the GLO map.
