We have received letters for property in Southern Freestone County Tx to conduct 3D Seismic surveys. They are offering $20 an acre. That seems to be on the low end to me. Is that reasonable or should I ask for more? Should I counter with my own terms as well as a damage schedule?
Depending upon where you are, that could be very low or very high. Are you a mineral owner or surface owner? Mineral owners may not get any compensation. Surface owners will depend upon surface conditions and the type of shoot. We received no money, but asked for a road around our pond they were going to shoot over since they had to whack through the brush to lay the geophones. Ended up with a nice little road. Sagebrush in the middle of nowhere might be a different story.
We are surface and mineral owners. We are in a pretty hot area as they are drilling within a mile of my house. Horizontal well permitted to 30k ft. One of the properties is where we live and will run about 4200 ft across it. They told me holes would be about every 110ā. Probably 3/4 of this distance will be across improved pasture. We have other locations as well that they are wanting to test. Iām old enough to remember when they paid by the hole, granted this type of 3D they are doing now is not quite as destructive.
I got $150/hole back about 2010.
