1970's SWD wells

I was wondering if anyone knew what was required to permit or convert a well to a non commercial disposal well in the early to mid 70’s. I know there were some regulatory changes in or around 1982 and later years. Was there a permit process? Application required, etc?

There was a permit process with the Texas Railroad Commission in the late 60s and early 70s. A high school coach of mine and his father in law reentered a plugged ‘duster’ well on their property, shot/perforated it in the San Andreas reef formation and it went on an instant vacuum. They made it into a saltwater disposal well in 1967 in Winkler county, Texas. That well is STILL on a vacuum and still being used as an SWD. It is grandfathered because it was permitted 15 years before the regulatory changes of 1982.

That is in Texas and regulations for SWDs in Texas are different than in other states.

Anyone have any idea on Oklahoma SWD wells in the 1970’s
