Keep in mind that the oil company is obligated to forward the unclaimed funds to the unclaimed office in the state where the missing owner last resided even though the well(s) is located in Oklahoma. So, if a decedent died having last resided in New York, the funds may have been submitted to the unclaimed property office in New York even though the well was in Oklahoma.
