Can someone explain why the Hertel well was completed last July 2013 and the 24-hour test is not completed until May 2014? Is it just equipment shortages? Also, 13 bbls oil and 24 bbls water…

Have also heard the Halliburton facility in Brownfield continues to be postponed. Originally set to start construction in March 2013, now earliest they might start is late 2015…

RHH I don’t know about the Hertel well. That is a good question. About the Halliburton facility, what I have heard in rumor is that the results in Terry County over the past couple of years have been so discouraging and that Halliburton is giving up on Terry County, just like Shell Western did. The fracking process that would have required all the infrastructure that Halliburton was gearing up for has not been nearly as successful in Terry as in other shale formations across the US. Vertical wells are just as productive in the formations in Terry County as are the horizontal wells, and the vertical wells are much less expensive to drill. There will still be exploration and drilling in Terry, but more along the lines of the occasional wildcat. With Halliburton’s vast financial resources, they can just write off the investment pretty painlessly and move on to greener pastures.
