Selling Mineral rights

I am interested in selling my mineral rights. Was hoping someone could steer me in the right direction to either a sincere buyer or perhaps a broker. Any input is appreciated. Thanks

There are several brokers who advertise on the forum. Also Energy Net , US Mineral Exchange and many others are out there. Also wise to check on pending activity before considering a sale. Parts of Carter are quite lively right now.

Ms Barnes, thank you so much for your response. I will look into those companies you mentioned. I wouldn’t have a clue as to how and check on activity. I think it’s section 14, Township 4 South, Range 2 East. It hasn’t been leased in some time now. Not sure why. My grandfather purchased this land many many years ago and it was passed down to me. It hasn’t been leased since 2014. That’s also the year it was passed down to me.

There has been active leasing in the sections on either side of you in the last 24 months. Casillas filed some OCC cases in 2024 for sections 10 & 15 just to the west of you. They were bought by Validus shortly thereafter, so nothing drilled in the chaos time after. Just wanted you to be aware that there might be some leasing interest there or nearby.

Yes please. I recently reached out to a Aegis Energy Partners in Co. I kinda felt their off was a little low. But truthfully I have nothing to compare it to. I don’t know if the rules here allow to say what their offer was.

Well I’m really not in a need or desire to sell. I haven’t had any leasing interest since 2014. The last company was R. D. Williams in Ardmore. I did get a price from Aegis to sell, I thought was low. But honestly have nothing to compare it to. I’m not sure if I’m allowed to quote prices in this forum. But I would be much more interested in leasing than selling. Thanks for your reply.

See what happens in the next few months. Seems like activity is picking up.

Ms. Barnes would you know what a fair lease price per acre is? Or also perhaps a fair sale price per acre? Clearly you know the in’s and out’s and up’s and down’s of this business. And I have absolutely no clue what so ever. I would greatly appreciate your expertise on this. Yes I would much prefer to generate a monthly or quarterly lease income stream as apposed to selling out right. Thank you.

Lease bonus rates are not public. The closest you can get to an estimate is a pooling order in the contiguous sections in the last 12 months. Sec 15 has leasing from 3/16ths to 23%. There are no pooling orders in the contiguous sections right now. I see a set of poolings pending in sec 6/7. Wait until they are decided for a general idea.

Ms Barnes

I can’t thank you enough for the education you have been giving me. I really have no desire to be a pest. Can you explain what a pooling order is or means? Thank you.

Everyone has questions when they start out! Keep asking.

Here is a document about pooling in OK. And a basic mineral owner’s guide for OK. Basically, every mineral acre has to be accounted for before the operator can drill. If not leased, then the remaining mineral acres go into the pooling process. Pooling has some advantages, so if I cannot get a good lease with the agent, I will gladly go to pooing and pick the highest royalty. Read these and then come back if you have more questions!
