Reeves County, TX - Oil & Gas Discussion archives

Although in the U.S. we use the relative heating value (energy) of oil and gas to convert to boe (barrel of oil equivalent, roughly 6 mcf = 1 bbl) with no adjustment for differential pricing, our Canadian friends to the north report boe using a 10 mcf = 1 bbl conversion to better reflect economic value rather than heating value. If you ever look at reports of Canadian companies, be aware of this difference.

On a section our family owns part of the as drilled plat has MF#'s assigned for each abstract. The original plat had none. Our part has 4 family members involved and they have assigned 4 MF#'s. I’m thinking it has something to due with taxes ?

can anyone tell me the status of the permitted well in township 8 blk.50 sec.14 J.R. Wilson M F 110589

The check has cleared so I’m comfortable to reveal that we received $3500 per mineral acre for our acreage south of the center of Block 59. We were very happy with the honesty and professionalism of the landman who arranged the lease. In fact, we turned down a higher offer from another group who seemed less reliable. Good business practices pay off in the end.

@ M A Smith - who did you lease to and block 59 of what survey? is that PSL blk 59 or what? also what section please? thanks

Thanks, Wade. There Was A Bit Of A question Which Survey It Was, H&GN Or T&P, But Mary Bird Bowman Found It For Me. Now If I Can Just Find Out Why My Text Capitalizes Every Word (Making Me Crazy) I’ll Be Happy!

LL, a pilot is a test lease where the company is testing the spacing efficiencies for optimal recoveries, meaning how close can we lay down the laterals to get the most oil out of the ground. Looks similar to drilling patterns in the Eagleford Shale.

EOG is drilling a pilot on Harrison ranch with wells 350’ to 450’ apart, so potentially 8 or more wells per section…for every productive interval. Take that in for a moment or two…

Billy… ==< can anyone tell me the status of the permitted well in township 8 blk.50 sec.14 J.R. Wilson M F 110589 >==

Not much help… I’m finding the permitted location for the DUIKER STATE 14 #1 (A-4982) vertical well issued 11-27-12 to Patriot Resources, Inc. A well completion report has not been filed. As I understand it, ā€˜MF 110589ā€ is a GLO internal ā€˜Master File’ control number that means something to them. As I understand it, a MF number is assigned when there is production… but I wouldn’t get my hopes up on my account. Suggest you call the GLO… you can pick up a toll-free number from their homepage: http://www.glo.texas.gov/

@ Billy & Buzz,

A MF # isn’t assigned to indicate production. It is assigned simply to the OGL. Buzz’s suggestion is a good one; call the GLO. They are usually plenty helpful. Reference the MF # and they should be able to tell you what they know…which may be no more than we do at this time.

Buzz, I just now had time to listen to CWI conference and those guys blew me out of my chair! WOW! My interest is right W of Toyah lake and so far not drilled.

Thanks so much for the heads up.

Ann

Ty – thanks for the clarification on assignment… still I want to emphasize that the MF# means something internal to the GLO but not to the general public. Later – Buzz

I have inherited mineral interests from John J. Frommer and Wilda C. Frommer, including in Sec. 11, Block 55, T-10 T&P RR Co. Recorded OPR Vol… 691, pg 06, on 1/10/2005, Reeves County. Not leased. Any oine know of activity here?

Check the RRC mapping. It will show Section, Blk, Survey and wells around the area.

William, your interest appears to be quite a ways south of the trend.

Buzz and Ty tks. for the info, im thinking patriot resources has not done anything except permitted the location.

In Reeves County 2 weeks ago. Area is very desolate.

Signs up like this all over the place—

And like this…

Great Pix D Cole!

Thanks, DCole, for the pictures. I was there earlier this year and it still looks the same. Love this area, even if it is desolute…

Interesting read in Forbes today on Permian Basin and links to recently released EIA report.
