Reeves County, TX - Oil & Gas Discussion archives

I have not heard nor seen a recent article that family members have regarding one of the biggest oil fields found in Texas reported last week. I don’t see any messages about this? Is this not new news? Also, in looking over again info, I am confirming if a permit is only good for one year? If so, how do you find out if it has been reapproved or not? The permit related to our lease was approved July 2012. We have one more year left on the lease. I went on the RRC site just now and there is only the 2012 permit showing.

Marian,

To find out about if the well permit has been reapproved email Rebecca at RR Commission. She is very helpful to mineral/property/royalty owners. Be sure and email the API # and/or the name of the well.

A week or two ago, someone posted a strong flow test/potential for a well 6-8 miles south of Pecos. It is a horizontal well. I’m struggling to find it. I believe the well produced 650-850 barrels of oil per day. Help please?

Thank you Clint! The news article I was referring to appeared in the Dallas news July 25 2013 in regards to Wolfcamp and Pioneer company.

Marian - This is the article. Reeves sits on Bone Spring (the Delaware basin Spraberry counterpart) and Wolfcamp - like the Midland basin. They currently are using 20 million barrels per section recovery to generate the 50 billion barrels of recoverable oil.

Delaware Basin may well be comparable, but not enough has been de-risked for any company to make claims like Pioneer has for Spraberry Wolfcamp. Sarah

Thank you Sarah! From my simple perspective, I don’t think I have seen any member of this group mention being involved with Pioneer?? Because they are located elsewhere??

Any ideas of what/where BHP is selling? We have leases with them in A 2291,2292. 2293 & 2294.

I know they have been activeleasing and drilling in the NW part of Reeves. Maybe selling the acreage/production just outside Pecos possibly? Will be interesting to find out.

Buzz, you are a legend! Great work. So…only six drilled wells on the Reeves acreage up for sale, drilled by BHP(PetroHawk) and or previous operator on acreage. My take is that the properties around the NW edge of Pecos town, probably not for sale.

Steve – you had that pegged just about right. Later – Buzz

I was curious, I noticed our property is not included on the map of listed acreages their selling. Is it good for us since were not included? Or is more the acreages that their trying to sell? I saw where their is only 6 wells included in the sale. What does it say about those 6 wells? Also has anybody got any information on pipelines? Esp the pipelines just a couple miles north of Pecos? Thanks

They intend keeping the most prospective leases…so good news!

Is anyone else havng trouble viewing the RRC’s Drill Permit Query?

Evidently Stephen is not… Thanks – Later – Buzz

Just took a look at EOG’s two newest permits on Harrison Ranch. They are placing surface locations across the lease line to optimize maximum legal length of lateral. Also, wells are spaced 350’ apart…meaning a whole lotta wells can be drilled on a section…14 I believe in each branch of the Wolfcamp, with potentially 3 or four being productive.

The RRC Drilling Permit Query is working for me now.

Stephen, I agree with your observation. Later – Buzz

I have a three-year lease with Browning Oil, SE/4, Section 8, Block 51, Township 7, Houston & Great Northern Railroad Co. Survey, but darned if I can find it on the map. Can anyone give the the abstract number or any other info where I might be able to find this property location? Thanks!!

Linton,

I suggest you check your description because to my knowledge, H&GN does not have townships. Only the T&P surveys do.

Marian,

Since Pioneer’s efforts are outside of Reeves County in the Midland Basin rather than the Delaware, they don’t get mentioned here very often.
