Luxe Energy acquires acreage in Reeves County and Ward County from Endeavor Energy Resources and Finley Resources : http://www.mrt.com/business/oil/top_stories/article_2ab2f30a-c61d-1…
Fred,
I see it now! Thank you so very much!
Hello,
I am looking to lease and/or buy 10 acres off a major highway and/or county road for the purpose of possibly obtaining a SWD permit. Royalties will be paid to the landowner. Please contact Tim Terry. 512-791-2499 cell/text
Hello,
I was contacted by landman last week about lease negotiations with Apache. So, just out of curiosity, I googled this landman’s name. And it turns out that several years ago he, when he was a Head Landman for a different company, he was convicted of embezzlement. Which spooked me a bit.
Feeling sort of wary about the situation, I would really like to get into contact with Wade Caldwell. Does anyone know the best way for me to contact him?
Thanks!
Miss Tanji - scroll up just a little and you will see an advertisement for B E & C. Click on it and you will find Wade Caldwell’s phone number.
$30 oil? Texas says bring it on

Some parts of the Eagle Ford and Permian Basin are profitable with oil below $30 a barrel, according to analysis by Bloomberg Intelligence.
Wells in DeWitt County can be profitable with benchmark crude at a price as low as $22.52, which is $4 below its lowest price this year. Crude oil settled at $26.55 on Jan. 20, its weakest price since May 2003.
The reports show seven Texas counties that can break even with oil at or below $30 per barrel: Martin, Midland, Howard, Reeves, Loving, Ward and DeWitt.
Wells that have already been drilled, but not yet hydraulically fractured, can be profitable at even lower prices. Hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, is the last step before production begins. In Reeves County, fracking an already-drilled well can be profitable with oil prices hovering near $14 a barrel.
But not all producers can weather the storm.

Dusty – the Arris BOREAS 79 #1H was spud 9/12/15. It last appeared on RigData’s w/e 11/6 drilling report after 56 days.
Silverback spud their first Reeves well 11/11/15, the FOLK ROLWING A 4-34 33 #1H in SEC 34 BLK 4 H&GN, 8.2 miles NW of Pecos. The same rig spudded Silverback’s second Reeves well 1/3/16, the WILLIAMS 4-53 #2H in nearby SEC 53, 6.2 miles NW of Pecos. The latter well shows on RigData’s w/e 2/12 report as currently ‘drilling ahead’ after 41 days.
In the last 3-4 months, Arris has had two (2) rigs operating in Reeves, Silverback one (1). I’m not familiar with any Arris/Silverback relationship other than Silverback’s affiliated company, EagleClaw Midstream Services has a 20-inch natural gas gathering line nearby to Arris’s recent drilling activity SSW of Pecos.
Sorry, I’m not familiar with recent nearby leasing activity one way or the other. Later – Buzz
Buzz - don’t have access to RigData so I appreciate that information. Sounds like the Arris Boreas well stopped being reported for some reason. Do RigData’s reports usually go to completion?
I’m a long way from there so I’m guessing the Boreas well finished drilling but may sit a while before completion. I’ve also been checking RRC for completion reports on the Tin Cup 81H and Maroon 80 1H that Arris drilled from a single pad on adjoining Section 81. I’d appreciate hearing anything RigData might show on those wells also. Thanks for your help.
Hi Buzz
Are you able to pull the RigData report on Block 4, Section 35, H&GN. When we leased the property in the fall, EXL Petroleum was really excited to get started (and got the permit), but it’s likely that the drop in prices since then has slowed their progress.
Thanks!
Thanks Buzz - You are my hero! Yes, we are the SAUL (API = 389-35026). We’ve been leasing the property for the last 10 years, but this is the first serious likelihood of something happening - so we are learning (and first time there is a permit).
Buz and Liz - You folks did a lots of good deeds today.
Following Buz’s key of looking at the bid notice for the description and using the link Liz provided to find the notices I could figure out the Block numbers of the bids I wanted to locate, which took a survey search on RRC’s map.
GLO could make things a lot easier if they’d just add the block numbers on the bid results. They show the section numbers, that they called “Tract” and, at least in the August, 2015 sale, showed the big survey that each tract was in…but some reason they changed that in January and just called everything Surveyed School Land.
In case someone’s curious but does want to try their luck at finding it, the $11,221/acre highest bid in the GLO’s August lease auction was for 120 acres that’s about six miles south of Pecos in Abstract 3935. On RRC it looks like the hole in a donut with multiple horizontals producing in every section around it. Many thanks for the help. I’m now arm and dangerous and making notes so I don’t forget before the next sale.
Can anyone share anything on recent leasing around Sec. 82, Blk 4 H&GN RR or the status of the Arris Boreas 79-1 on adjoining section to the east. Last mention I saw was Buzz saying it spudded 9/11/15.
Also wondering if Silverback and Arris are working together? Thanks
Liz – that’s valuable info for all… save it. It looks like the private online web site operator EnergyNet that conducts the GLO Sealed Bid Sale is now assisting in navigating the GLO website to learn results… Thanks – Later – Buzz
Dusty – generally, you can safely assume drilling has been completed on the Arris’s Boreas well since it did not appear on RigData’s weekly drilling report 11-13-15. However, it is important to note the well itself had not been completed at that time, i.e., it has not been ‘fraced’. To give you an idea of the difference in ‘drilling’ being completed and the ‘well’ being completed (by fracing)… in this area it is typical for a horizontal well to cost up to $6-8m… costing ~40% to drill the well and ~60% to frac it.
RigData’s weekly drilling report tracks only the drilling stage. The fracing stage usually occurs a week to a couple of weeks after drilling is completed. However, in these economic conditions, companies are sometimes waiting months to complete their wells by fracing.
Arris’s TIN CUP 81 #1H spud 11/13/15 and did not appear on the w/e 12-11-15 report.
Arris’s MAROON 80 #1H spud 12/11/15 and did not appear on the w/e 1-8-16 report.
The same rig drilled both wells… very efficient, I might add.
Completion reports are always posted notoriously later than mineral owners prefer. Later – Buzz
Buzz - Thanks again. Arris seems motivated and real efficient on drilling and forming units to hold full sections but then delays the completion stage as long as possible. Rosetta’s appears to be doing the same in that area.
On a different Reeves question, GLO lease auctions on 1/15/6 and 8/4/15 showed high bids ranging from $800 up to $11,200/acre in Reeves Co. The list of bid results shows the survey name and “Tract” number that I’m figuring is the Section, but they never list a Block number. There is also what’s labeled as a “Lease No.” next to the each high bid but I can’t figure how to do anything with those numbers. Is there a way to pin down the location of those high bids?
Kevin – subject drilling reports are released weekly, Fri being the end of the week. In an area, they are divided into counties and listed by spud date, newest to oldest. It is a headache to research by SEC, BLK & SURVEY. Knowing the operator, well name and API number are a big help.
In your case, I recognize ‘EXL’ because they have only recently become active again in Reeves after a one-and one-half year absence. On 1/10/16 they spud their STATE CVX 22 #2276 horizontal well in SEC22 BLK 4 H&GN, 2-1/2 miles W of your SEC 35 inquiry. In addition, they have recent horizontal (1) and vertical (1) permits in SEC 35, well names ‘SAUL 3571‘ and ‘SAUL 3573’, respectively. Later – Buzz
Dusty – you ask a very good question. The short answer to pinpoint the exact location of a successful bid, you must refer to both the Bid Tabulation AND the Notice-For-Bids… two documents… stupid, I know.
By way of background, the GLO turned over their Sealed Bid Sales to a private company to run online beginning with the 8/4/15 sale. It seems the bid process went pretty well in both cases, BUT the timely posting of results (including historical results) leaves a lot to be desired, especially around the same time the GLO ungraded their entire web site. To make matters even worse (for some), even if you’re successful in finally locating the files on the GLO website, you must download results since the process began in 2005… resulting in a very large 34 MB file!
On a side note, most of the Reeves tracts (probably other counties too) did NOT receive the minimum bid.
Lastly, let me hear if you can now determine what you need to know. Later – Buzz
Kevin – good luck. That area is heating up anew. Later – Buzz
