Reeves County, TX - Oil & Gas Discussion archives

I am looking to buy and lease minerals in Reeves County. Please contact me if interested. Thomastalbott@yahoo.com

Richard, it is a list of active drilling rigs. Has nothing to do with ā€œproducingā€.

June,

I don’t see any activity ā€˜near’ your A-4077. Several miles to the north and a couple miles to the southwest I see several permitted locations for horizontal wells to be drilled. I see a gas well (API 389-32885) to the southeast of your minerals in A-1658 that was drilled by Petrohawk/completed in 2011. Completion Report shows 2,570,000 MCF gas per day. I would say your minerals are in a good area for ā€˜future’ exploration and production. Be patient. Good luck.

leasing only

Okay, so to continue my vocabulary expansion and get a clearer picture… when you use the term ā€œworkover rigā€ a quick check online indicates those are rigs that are involved with fixing something associated with the well. Compared to drilling rigs would the number of workover rigs typically be more or less in number than the drilling rigs? Maybe there is no ā€œtypical.ā€

There are (were) about 1000 workover rigs in the region. Over half are now idle. They are used for completions, repairs, and P&As.

Asking Buzz or Clint about the activity near my 20 acres BLK:54-5, TRACK: 4, AB 4077 BLK 54-5 SEC 4 T&PS PT OF E/2 SW/4. I have offers to purchase my mineral rights that I really don’t want to sell, but what is the recent price per acre?

June, are you interested in selling or leasing?

It is nice to have that cheap gas at the pump but I would sure like to see the prices get back up there so we can see some increased drilling.

Thanks for the info.

I know some of you were hoping that Concho would acquire your acreage near their Big Chief wells. That’s going to happen.

Forgot the link to the press release. Sorry.

Liz - Thank you! With this map I was able to locate our property and it appears we are not part of this acquisition.

Correction - to the West of us, not Southwest.

Liz,

According to the map Concho has Section 186 (to the north of you). I’m in the north half of that section with the 2 Pistola wells and they are operated by Primexx. I can only hope Concho has the entire section, same for Section 212.

Here are some more details. Apparently the acreage is the old Chesapeake holdings that were taken over by CWEI a few years ago (which counts our acreage out - Block 13, Section 185) and that are currently undrilled.

Is Block 13, Section 179 (Reeves County) included in this swap?

Buzz, thank you! I have tried to overlay the Concho map with the GIS viewer map, at least as far as some of the acreage around the Big Chief goes. The maps do not match exactly. Of course the Concho map is fairly crude. But with a bit of tweaking, I’ve come up with something that might be fairly accurate. The Concho properties at the top of the map cannot be correct because they indicate my property (Section 185) already belongs to Concho. That can’t be right because we just leased to CWEI. So anything at the top of the map could be incorrect. But I was able to match one very distinct section on both maps (Section 190) and extrapolate from there. I’d have to do a separate photo for the properties to the north and that will only work if I can find a very distinct section to work with.

Mike, that’s who I thought had the wells most recently. So I’m confused about Concho. And Section 212 has wells by (or wells permitted by) Oxy and J. Cleo Thompson. How can that be part of CWEI’s trade with Concho? Of course, as I said, I’m not as sure about this map as the first one, but still, things do seem to sync up here pretty well between the Concho map and the GIS map. Do you have interests in Section 212?

You are probably right, Fred. And many companies are having financial problems right now so things may be changing hands and we don’t know it.

I have had an offer to purchase some surface-only land that my siblings and I have in Toyah. Does anyone have any idea of the value of surface in Toyah? Will appreciate any advice on this.
