We too did a “drilling commitment” clause with a company in reeves a few years ago. I am in favor of adding these clauses, but the hang up is what exactly constitutes drilling or commencing drilling operations, etc. So, be very specific in the language to avoid confusion.
Hector, Depends on how long the road is, how much traffic you will allow, and how long you want to allow it. Really cannot say without full information. I would put a time limit.
We are coming close to seeing if BHP will renew our lease (3 yrs ends in July). I see that Wade maybe available to help negotiate another lease with someone else if it comes to that? I wonder how you would approach Chevron? I am to call the landman in June to see what their plans are.
Tommy, I can’t find that block, is there a Township number or abstract number? I did a deal like that, kind of, they wouldn’t come up to my price so they agreed to pay me more bonus after one year if they hadn’t drilled… and unfortunately they sent me the extra bonus!
Your name looked familiar, but I could not place it. I remember your mother’s lease now. If you would like, I can make an inquiry with BHP about the option to extend.
Thomas, I think you meant that Double Basin is the Lessee. I’m afraid I do not have any contacts with them. If you have any leases with BHP, I can make inquiries about those.
