The company I work for owns a lot of mineral rights all over the state of OK. We have received several cause notifications, but I can’t find anything in our files that show we own mineral rights in the S-T-R for those notifications. Would we receive these notifications if we didn’t have mineral rights? I’m wondering if I should do some more digging for mineral rights ownership.
Some operators send out notices to the owners in the contiguous sections. The quickest way to find out is to contact the attorney that sent out the notices and find out if you received a courtesy notice or if they have documentation that says if your company is an owner.
Thank you, I hadn’t thought about that. I’m learning all this o & g stuff on my own with nobody to help me so I really appreciate any advice.
If you are new to all of this, the Mineral Help tab above is a great way to start.
You might see if your company will pay to send you to the NARO convention and pay for you to take the Mineral Management classes that we offer. Great way to learn a big chunk of it at one time.
NARO is the National Association of Royalty Owners. www.naro-us.org. We have an Oklahoma chapter. The convention is June 23-25 in OKC.
