The loss of life here was wholly unnecessary. It is interesting that the Society of Petroleum Engineers is putting a little “spin” on their report by saying Patterson UTI is not “well-known.” Patterson is publicly traded on the NYSE and has been drilling wells on-land in the US for over 40 years. They are very well-known. Also interesting that the IADC has been pretty silent through all this.
