A surface owner has been contacted by a drilling company about constructing a pad on his property. Location was described to me as west of the Lakeview Methodist Conference Center and north of Highway 294. Expand has written leases in this area.
No info on timing. I will update if/when I get new information.
I’ve been told this is an Expand horizontal well. It appears that pad construction is underway with access from Highway 294.
Is this pad within the planned 3D outline in this area?
Yes it is. I wonder if there are any prior small-scale seismic studies available for the pad area?
Speaking of Anderson County, how is the progress on the Mitsui treatment plant going?
I’ve heard nothing new about that. Don’t know if plans have changed or if it has a long time horizon.
Based on some seismic company’s websites (e.g. SEI, Seitel), there are some smaller 3D surveys in this area plus a lot of 2D data. All this historical data is available for purchase - but there may be issues with data quality and fold (coverage intensity)
Not all seismic is created (or acquired) equally
Interesting that they are moving dirt while the 3D seismic is still in the works. Do we think Expand is just building the surface pad now to hold a lease, or is there chatter about a big rig mobilizing to this spot immediately?
I think Expand wants to drill now. As posted by Rock_Man, there may be seismic data available for this area.
This pad site is over 7 acres in size. How many wells will they fit on that?
Since the wellheads would only be only 25-30’ apart, room numerous wells - but don’t expect to see all drilling slots used for a long time.
Pad size may also be tied to a centralized production facility being placed on this pad.
