I don’t believe it would matter if the landman is bonded. It is business and in business as in boxing, the best advice is to protect yourself at all times. Make sure you get what you need in the lease and your responsibility to say no if you do not get what you need in the lease. Always do business on paper by mail. Promises on the phone mean little if you are not recording it. You cannot expect the other side to play fair, it’s your responsibility to protect yourself.
