# What does Federal Mineral Estate mean?

What does “Federal Mineral Estate” mean?

For example, in Johnson County, Wyoming, I can toggle “federal mineral estate” on and off and this area appears in dark gray.

What does it mean for the mineral owners in that section?

I don’t actually represent anyone. I’m just a mineral owner myself and am learning by researching stuff I see in tax sales, auctions, and random stuff I run across while exploring online. I do occasionally buy mineral interest in Texas but I know nothing about Wyoming.

I’m just on a hunt for knowledge—I have a lot to learn.
