# Tax on Mineral rights

My brothers and I own land in Rusk County. In 1990 we sold our gas rights to a company. We assume that the company who bought our part of the pipeline running through our property paid taxes on that. Is this correct or do we pay? Thank you.

You own the land, you pay the taxes. It sounds like you sold the mineral acres under the land–there is a difference. You still own the land, correct?

Thanks for replying. I own the land, I pay taxes on it. I am wondering about the tax on the gas which is on a small portion.
