# Royalty Percentage Question

Is it common, or appropriate, to negotiate a royalty percentage on a minerals lease?
For instance, if a company offers a royalty percentage of 22.5% on a new lease, but previously the same minerals were leased by a different company for 25% royalty.
Have I completely confused everyone? LOL. Thank you!

Absolutely. In the hot areas there are also rumors of higher than 25%.
