# Royalty payments after Release of Lease

I seem to recall hearing at an Oklahoma NARO conference several years ago that if an operator continued to produce in a section from which the mineral owner had received a Release of Lease, the operator is required to pay 1/8th royalty.

Is that the case in Oklahoma?

This would be a very small $ amount since the well(s) were no longer economically viable when the Release of Lease was executed.
