How long after drilling starts can you expect a royalty check?

Generally, about a year.

A more accurate answer depends on pipeline status and how many wells are to be drilled on that pad. It could be a lot sooner if everything is ready to go and you just have the single well. Don't forget to sign up for direct deposit if your operator offers it.
