We inherited mineral rights from a great uncle. We have gone through the process and have had the ownership changed in 2024. We received the check from the lawyer we used for the money being held by the county. We are now receiving tax notices and not receiving any royalties. Who do I contact to get the royalties? I believe WOX and Felix Energy Holdings are the operators.

Do you mean Winkler County?
Does the tax file have the well names on it? Trying to find the right wells for you. Most of them have been plugged or are inactive, so no royalties to get now.

Those are in block 27 Section 29 which is why I couldn’t find any new wells from the other description. The operator is Devon. Contact their royalty owner department and notify them of the heir change. They may need documents such as probate, death certificate, Change of address, etc. W-9 for sure. WPX Energy Permian was bought by Devon, so that was the confusion.

You should contact the current operator. If the estate was in limbo for a lengthy period of time you might check the State Comptroller’s website to see if unclaimed funds for uncashed checks, etc. have been escheated to the state for unclaimed revenues payable yo your deceased family member you inherited from, if the estate attorney hasn’t done that already.
