Is there any gas and oil company already buying private land?

I think this is a lost cause. [Mexican oil expropriation - Wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mexican_oil_expropriation)

The question of mineral rights was pretty much extinguished by President Cardenas.

I understand that Mexico has changed a lot with the new energy reform. Now it is a country with big opportunities to invest. On private land, expropriation doesn’t exist; anybody can buy private land, lease, or be a partner.

The ejidos are the only problem because there are a lot of owners on the same land, and everybody wants to give their own opinion. But not now; the Mexican federal government already gave the ejidatarios land titles. I think it could be easy to get a big extension of land if you get in contact with the leader; there’s always a leader in the ejidos.

A lot has changed, but a lot has stayed the same. [Milestones in the History of U.S. Foreign Relations - Office of the Historian](https://history.state.gov/milestones/1937-1945/mexican-oil)

Frankly, I don’t see the government ever reversing Cárdenas’s action. It would be political suicide.

Yes, ejidatarios have been given titles, but it has been the practice of my family to never buy those lands.

Ownership of the land surface does not give ownership of the mineral rights. That does and always will be the property of the nation. Lo siento, pero no hay remedio.

Let’s talk about private properties: I believe that big oil & gas companies can easily work together on Mexican private properties doing partner, they protect each other. That’s the best way of doing business in foreign countries.
