My mother-in-law was receiving royalty checks from Alta Mesa 13 years ago when she passed away. I have been unable to follow the Alta Mesa acquisition trail. If anyone has a suggestion, I would deeply appreciate any information you may have. Thank you.

I believe Alta Mesa went bankrupt and was acquired by BCE-Mach in 2020.

BCE-MACH has many of the old Alta Mesa wells. Try contacting them first.

You are correct, BCE Mach did acquire most of Alta Mesa, but my mother-in-law passed away in 2013, and some parts of Alta Mesa were sold between 2013-2019. Those buyers most likely have my royalties, but I cannot find who they are. THANK YOU SO MUCH!

If you know the names of the wells, you can look them up on the OCC well records site. Form 1073 is the operator change form to track the new owners.

I am new to this, and a novice. Please tell me what the OCC is and how I find it. Thank you.
