# How to Keep Track of Which Company Has Your Leases

I’m not even sure if I’ve worded my question correctly. For example, suddenly I am receiving a royalty check from a company I’ve never heard of. I don’t know how to tell exactly which property (or portion thereof) it is and which company formerly sent the checks.

You should see the name of the well(s) on the statement that comes with the royalty. Or you may need to download the statement from their website or another site. If you do not see the well name, then call the division order department of the company sending the check. Have your owner number (on the check) and the check number ready and ask them what property it is paying on.

You can go to the okwellrecords site and put in the name of the well and it will show you if the well has been sold. Form 1000 is the permit, 1001A is the spud, 1002A is the completion and 1073 is a change of operator. [Test](https://imaging.occ.ok.gov/imaging/OGWellRecords.aspx)
