We have inherited mineral rights in several Oklahoma Counties several years ago and we now have a need to learn the value of these rights. Can anyone tell me how we would go about this? We have some counties that are producing and other counties that are not. Thank you.

Well, it can be done. You will need professional help. If you want an exact valuation and the quantity is worth it, you can hire a petroleum engineer to give a valuation. If the amount in question does not merit the hiring of a petroleum engineer, a landman or other professional could do some research based on the sales price of other minerals in the same general area at the same time. In addition, or as an alternative, where the minerals are producing, usually a valuation can be reached based on some factor of 5-8 years times average revenue. As to nonproducing minerals, the value would be about $150/acre.
