# Does adverse possession apply to severed/split estate mineral rights in Nevada?

I own some mineral rights in Nevada; however, I do not own the surface land. While I figure out what to do with the mineral rights, do I need to worry about someone trying to claim the mineral rights through abandonment/adverse possession?

According to Google… While Nevada has regulations regarding abandoned mines and a mechanism (quiet title actions) for resolving property disputes, including those involving mineral interests, it does not have a specific “dormant minerals act” that automatically extinguishes dormant mineral rights after a certain period of inactivity.
