Once I’ve located my legal description on the maps on COGCC website, how do I know if there red dots are currently producing or old? Also, if wells [red dots] are located adjacent to my parcels, is there any chance I’m in line for royalties? My mineral rights are not all contiguous for some reason and some ‘red dot’ wells are adjacent to some.

You will not be in line for royalties unless you are part of the producing unit. Adjacent properties won’t pay you anything, but your chances of getting drilled at some point go up when there are wells close.
If you do have wells on your property, you should have been notified when the wells were drilled and likely would have signed leases prior to that happening. You can do an individual well search in the “database” portion of the COGCC site to find the production history.
