# ACH Payments for Royalty Payments

Can a producer require us to receive royalty payments via ACH rather than paper check? Does anyone know?

I don’t believe so; however, this is the most convenient way to receive payments. Even if they send ACH, they also have to provide you with a check stub by mail or email.

Personally, I prefer a real check with a stub attached. I am dealing with a company right now where the bank deposits by ACH do not match the check stubs, by quite a lot. Not much fun to straighten out…guess who got the short end of the stick for the moment.

Not by pennies, by hundreds of dollars…, my project for the week to unravel. Run statements are quite a bit higher than the bank deposits. Brand new well, so rather important to catch quickly.
