It seems to me we are on the right path now. Time is on our side. We have been developing use of alcohol, hydrogen, gasoline boosting mpg, electric cars. By that I mean, right now a car buyer can go to a dealership and buy a car that runs on any of the above. Finding these fuels at the pump is a problem that people seem willing to take on. I see some of all of them on the road, so they must have access to the various fuels someplace.
